Baked Salmon Fillet

My husband loves to cook and there is often a fight on who would be cooking. So to avoid the fight, we cook in turns. Sea food is one of my weakness and if it Malvani style then I just can’t stop eating. One day my husband baked a salmon fillet with one of his innovative recipe and I am in love with it since then. It has a tangy, herby, spicy taste to it. So if you are a seafood lover then you would definitely look this one!

Ingredients:

For marination:

  • 2 Salmon fillet (or 600 gms of salmon fillet)
  • 1 cup Lemon juice
  • 1.5 tbsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1.5 tsp Red chilli powder (or as per your spice level)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil

 For baking:

  • Cumin seed powder
  • Herbs butter
  • Oregano

Method:

In a pastic container mix lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, salt and oil. Mix well and set it aside.

Now clean the salmon fillet with water, sprinkle some salt and massage the fillet. Wash the fillet under cold running water. Once clean, place it in the marination container. Marinade the fillet overnight or at least for 3-4 hours.

Pre-heat the oven at 200 degrees. Place an aluminium foil on a baking tray and oil the foil. Place the fillet on the foil and pour half of the marinade on both the fillets. Sprinkle some cumin seeds powder.

Now place the baking tray in the pre-heated oven and bake the fillet for 20 mins. Remove the fillet and pour the remaining marinade over it. Bake again for 10-15 mins. After 15 mins, remove the baking tray and check if the salmon is baked. If baked, then add some herbs butter and sprinkle some oregano. Place the tray back in the oven for 5 mins or till the butter melts.

Tip: In case herbs butter is not available, in softened butter mix some French herbs mix and grated garlic.

Serve salmon fillet with brown rice and some spinach!
